In today’s episode Teal shares her birth control journey from one type to another until she finally discovered fertility awareness cycle charting. You’ll discover how Teal’s personal experience and challenges with both hormonal and non-hormonal contraceptives inspired her to bring fertility awareness to her Clinical Herbalism practice.

Teal has always been deeply interested in exploring the ways that communities can come together to build health and resilience. She believes that self-care is an essential practice and that by nourishing ourselves, we are better able to show up for others. As a clinical herbalist, her goal is to work in partnership with clients to envision what wellness looks like for each individual, finding creative and pleasurable ways to incorporate herbs, medicinal foods, and seasonal practices into everyday life. Teal is a trauma-informed practitioner who emphasizes herbal care for generative/reproductive wellness, mental health, and navigating stressful times.

Rose Constantine Smith is a Registered AFN Nutritionist specializing in women’s health.

Using nutrition, lifestyle and now menstrual cycle charting Rose supports women to meet their health goals whilst helping them to understand and appreciate their bodies beyond their physical appearance.

She works with women of all ages with issues including menstrual health, digestion, preparing for pregnancy, supporting energy, postnatal recovery and health post-menopause.

Now with her knowledge of fertility awareness which helped her through her own journey where she was left with very little support after the birth of her daughter, she is on a mission to provide women with the information and support they deserve to navigate their health and hormones smoothly throughout their life.

In today’s episode Melissa shares her experience in the FAMM program, and how it has impacted her physical therapy practice.

Dr. Melissa Thompson is a board-certified Doctor of Physical Therapy with a specialty certification in Manual Therapy, which is a tool for hands on treatment. She is also a pelvic health specialist with an advanced certification in Fertility Awareness (as a certified FAMM practitioner).

She helps women connect their menstrual cycle health to their pelvic health so they can heal pelvic pain, relieve bladder issues, and take charge of their fertility. She has established a holistic "birth center" style clinic from fertility all the way to postpartum. She starts with you as you are planning your family, and you become part of their family as you stay with the clinic through your whole journey into postpartum.

Melissa believes every person deserves a head-to-toe assessment for your pelvic and fertility concerns. Holistic health means that instead of looking at one body part, we look at the whole body to find all of the contributing factors to your problems. This creates lasting healing.

She earned her bachelor's degree at LSU, a master's degree in Pharmacology at LSU Health Sciences Center. From there, and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She currently practices in south Louisiana.
