In today’s episode Dani Sheriff shares her experience in the FAMM program, and how it has enhanced her professional practice. She also shares her birth story. Dani was pregnant during the FAMM program, and gave birth to her beautiful baby daughter during covid/lockdown times.
Dani Sheriff is an Australian-Born, Austin based Podcaster, YouTuber and digital illustrator. She is the host of The Hypothalamic Amenorrhea Podcast and founder of The HA Society – a podcast and online community for women who care about getting their periods.
She’s just like every other person in the world, she struggles with her body image and self worth. Being obsessed with looking ‘the correct way’ took so much energy both physically and mentally. She had absolutely nothing to show for it. No one was congratulating her or thanking her for impacting their lives. She didn’t have an enjoyable social life or a menstrual cycle. Nothing.
She lost both her time and her fertility.
So she realized she needed to change. She started eating and resting and her body started to heal. With all this new-found time and energy, she picked up a pen and started to draw women with real bodies, having real thoughts and struggling through real barriers. And people liked it. They started thanking her for the impact that her work was having on them. That’s when Dani realized she was starting to make an impact and found her calling. She then started podcasting and YouTubing to keep the message spreading.
Since then, she’s grown a following of women (and men) who are trying to free up mental and physical space so that they can actually do real work. She does this by creating art, podcasts and YouTube videos. That’s her mission. And none of it had anything to do with making herself smaller or hungry.

Join me for an epic interview with filmmakers Ricki Lake & Abby Epstein to discuss their latest documentary The Business of Birth Control!
From acting and producing, to dancing her way into the hearts of television audiences, Emmy Award-winning television host Ricki Lake is a pop culture icon who has built a career on her graciously candid sensibility and her authentic, relatable nature. At age 24, Lake became one of the youngest daily talk show hosts in history with the debut of The Ricki Lake Show. She has also co-written two books, released a 4 part-DVD series, and served as an Executive Producer of several documentaries.
Abby Epstein made her film directing debut at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival with the documentary, V-Day: Until the Violence Stops, featuring Jane Fonda, Salma Hayek, and Rosie Perez. . In 2007, she teamed up with Ricki Lake for their widely acclaimed documentary, The Business of Being Born, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released by New Line Cinema/Netflix and broadcast on Showtime.
Sixty years after the pill revolutionized women's emancipation, "The Business of Birth Control" examines the complex relationship between hormonal birth control and women’s health and liberation. The documentary traces the feminist movement to investigate and expose the pill's risks alongside the racist legacy of hormonal contraception and its ongoing weaponization against communities of coluor. Weaving together the stories of bereaved parents, body literacy activists and femtech innovators, the film reveals a new generation seeking holistic and ecological alternatives to the pill while redefining the meaning of reproductive justice.

Today we dive into the iodine/thyroid controversy, and discover why your basal body temperature is such an important indicator of your overall health in my interviews with Dr. David Brownstein and Dr. Denis Wilson! All this and more in today’s episode of the 2021 summer replay series!
Dr. David Brownstein is a Board-Certified family physician and is one of the foremost practitioners of holistic medicine. He is the Medical Director of the Center for Holistic Medicine in West Bloomfield, MI. Dr. Denis Wilson developed the concept of Wilson ‘s Temperature Syndrome in 1988 after observing people with symptoms of low thyroid and low body temperature, yet who had normal blood tests. He found that by normalizing their temperatures with T3 (without T4) their symptoms often remained improved even after the treatment was discontinued.

Why do doctor’s prescribe the birth control for (literally) every menstrual cycle complaint? Find out in today’s episode of the 2021 summer replay series!
Dr. Naylor is a board-certified family physician, focused on preventive medicine and nutrition. As an osteopathic physician, she treats patients with a whole-person approach and has training in treating the body with hands-on techniques, called osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM). She became especially interested in fertility during the end of her residency training when she herself stopped hormonal contraception in an effort to get pregnant and didn’t get a period. Almost 2 years later, she continues her journey to naturally regain a healthy menstrual cycle and reflects on how western medicine addresses (or doesn’t address) this common issue.
